| There has been a steady increase in the number youth empowerment programs in North Carolina. With over $1 million of tobacco settlement funding going toward school and community programs to reduce youth tobacco use, there will be continued growth in this area. Few evaluations have been conducted of these efforts in North Carolina and elsewhere so little is known about their impact. NC YES studies the following areas to gather more information as it relates to the development of the youth empowerment and tobacco use prevention movement. |
